About me

NICE TO MEET YOU!

Hey, I’m Frank. I’m a public history grad student and huge Tottenham Hotspur fan (COYS!) who loves digging into local stories—especially the ones we don’t typically hear about. I’m based in Vancouver, Washington, and I spend a lot of time exploring archives, old photos, and interesting stories from the past.

This blog gives me a chance to dig into the history behind local things I find interesting. Coming soon: posts about the history behind street names, local neighborhoods, buildings, and other bits of local history that have a story to tell. Have you ever driven by something and thought to yourself, “I wonder what the story is behind that?” That’s what this blog is all about! If you’re into local history or curious about how the past still shows up in your community today, you’re in the right place!

When I’m not deep in research or juggling school deadlines, you’ll probably find me with my beautiful wife Elia, our seven-year-old son Frankie, and Henry, our mischievous Beagle. My favorite things to do typically include chasing a soccer ball, grilling up some meat, or just poking around the Pacific Northwest with family. My family keeps me grounded and reminds me what history’s really about: people, community, and the stories we pass down.

Lately, I’ve been working on a digital history series that uncovers surprising finds from old high school yearbooks. I also recently presented at the annual Pacific Northwest Labor History Association conference about a 1973 teacher strike that happened right here in Vancouver. For me, it’s all about bringing the past to life in ways that feel personal, relevant, and fun!
